Bùi Xuân Phái

Bùi Xuân Phái (1920 – 1988) sinh ra tại làng Kim Hoàng, xã Vân Canh, huyện Hà Tây, tỉnh Hà Đông (nay là thủ đô Hà Nội) là cái tên thuộc hàng kinh điển của nền Mỹ thuật Việt Nam. Ông tốt nghiệp khoa Hội họa trường Cao đẳng Mỹ thuật Đông Dương khóa 1941–1945. Ông tham gia kháng chiến, tham dự triển lãm nhiều nơi. Năm 1952 về Hà nội, sống tại nhà số 87 Phố Thuốc Bắc cho đến khi mất. Năm 1956-1957 giảng dạy tại Trường Mỹ thuật Hà Nội.

Bùi Xuân Phái là một trong những họa sĩ thuộc thế hệ cuối cùng của sinh viên trường Cao đẳng Mỹ thuật Đông Dương, cùng thời với các danh họa ảnh hưởng lớn tới sự phát triển của mỹ thuật Việt Nam hiện đại Nguyễn Sáng, Nguyễn Tư Nghiêm, Dương Bích Liên. Ông chuyên về chất liệu sơn dầu, đam mê mảng đề tài phố cổ Hà Nội. Những đóng góp của ông cho nền hội họa nước nhà, đặc biệt là thương hiệu “Phố Phái” sẽ còn sống mãi với thời gian.

Nhắc đến tác phẩm tiêu biểu của họa sĩ Bùi Xuân Phái, người ta nghĩ ngay đến dòng tranh nổi tiếng nhất của ông được nhiều người mến mộ là Phố Phái (bộ tranh Phố cổ Hà Nội). Ông đã dùng chất liệu sơn dầu để thổi hồn vào những bức tranh mang đậm nét cổ kính mà rất hiện thực về Phố cổ thủ đô thập niên 50, 60, 70 của thế kỷ 20

The street paintings of Bui Xuan Phai are both ancient and very realistic, clearly showing the soul of Hanoi's old town in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The color arrays in Phai's paintings often have bold outlines, the streets not only become itself, but also closer to people, from the surface to the landscape, there is an inner depth. Looking at his paintings of the old town, viewers can see that the artist has sent memories, nostalgia, and sadness, wistful regrets on each stroke, as a harbinger of the change and disappearance of each painting. roof, each person has an old soul.
